Welcome to Saxony's highest point!

The Family|Youth Hostel is in a quiet location on the edge of the woods at the foot of the Fichtelberg, which is 1215 metres high.

Surrounded by woodland and rushing mountain streams, the Youth Hostel is situated by the Fichtelberg, not far from the resort town of Oberwiesenthal. We are a certified Family Youth Hostel and specialise in providing outdoor adventure programmes for families. This is reflected in the facilities on offer in and around the Hostel.
This modern Youth Hostel has 132 beds in two to eight-bed rooms, six of which are family rooms with en-suite sanitary facilities and seven are separate rooms for group leaders with wash-hand basins. There are also two conference rooms with space for 132 and 27 people respectively, a course room for up to 26 people including flip chart, overhead projector and screen, disco, games and table tennis rooms, a common room for supervisors, a barbecue area with fireplace and covered seating area, a party basement and a forest adventure slope with a balancing route. Music lovers can borrow a keyboard, accordion and guitar, while sporty types can enjoy volleyball, table tennis and basketball. We also have a base for cycling groups and winter sports equipment for hire.

Tips for your stay

Just in front of the Youth Hostel is the entrance to a sprawling woodland hiking area. Cross-country skiing trails, toboggan runs and ski lifts make this a great place for skiing holidays. Guests can hire cross-country skis and skates. The Youth Hostel also offer sports enthusiasts a range of cycling and mountain bike tours. Whatever the time of year, you're sure to find plenty of exciting recreational activities. A children's playground and crazy golf course are about 10 minutes away... At the Hostel itself we have a chimney barbecue with covered seating area as well as a small woodland adventure slope with a balancing course.
